The Day After Roswell

From the publisher
A landmark expose firmly grounded in fact, The Day After Roswell puts a fifty-year-old controversy to rest. Since 1947, the mysterious crash of an unidentified aircraft at Roswell, New Mexico, has fueled a firestorm of speculation and controversy with no conclusive evidence of its extraterrestrial origin - until now. Colonel Philip J. Corso (Ret.), a member of President Eisenhower's National Security Council and former head of the Foreign Technology Desk at the U.S. Army's Research & Development department, has come forward to tell the whole explosive story. Backed by documents newly declassified through the Freedom of Information Act, Colonel Corso reveals for the first time his personal stewardship of alien artifacts from the crash, and discloses the U.S. government's astonishing role in the Roswell incident: what was found, the cover-up, and how these alien artifacts changed the course of twentieth-century history.

A craft from outer space crash-landed near Roswell, New Mexico, on July 4, 1947. This fascinating new book contains never-before printed, first-hand accounts from credible witnesses, including respected members of the local medical, law-enforcement, military, and scientific communities. The eyewitnesses describe five extraterrestrial beings, the interior of their spaceship, and loose pieces of debris with inexplicable properties. Five aliens were found amongst the wreckage of their destroyed spacecraft. The descriptions of the bodies - including a doctor's autopsy report - offer intriguing new insights into alien anatomy and may present clues to their homeworld. The interior of the craft was bordered with indecipherable purple hieroglyphics. Pieces of the wreckage were tested by various witnesses who confirm the debris was unlike anything seen anywhere before: metal that acted like elastic, returning to its original shape after being crushed; foil-thin metals that dissipated heat and would not melt or scorch at any temperature. The site was first discovered by a young man and his girlfriend on a weekend camping trip. A group of archaeologists searching for Native American artifacts arrived a short time later. When the military arrived, the archaeologists were held for questioning and sworn to secrecy. The remains of the ship were packed up along with the crew and shipped to an air base. Then the area was cleared and the cover story began. The first reports of the crash made news around the world. Then the army contradicted the early accounts, officially announcing that the debris was simply a downed weather balloon. This explanation discredited, the crash has, over the years, been variously declared to be a Japanese balloon bomb, a V-2 rocket, an experimental "flying wing" plane, and an early, unmanned American spaceship. The authors, who have devoted years to researching the incident, conclusively demonstrate that none of the mundane explanations sufficiently

Dreamland : Travels Inside the Secret World of Roswell and Area 51

Publishers Weekly
"Dreamland," "Area 51" and "Groom Lake" refer to a military base in Nevada about which the government has maintained a stony silence. Built in the early 1950s, this testing site marked the first flights of U2, SR-71 Blackbird and F-111 Stealth aircraft, and is the subject of wide speculation among ufologists. Patton's (Made in the USA; Voyager) detailed work follows last year's Area 51 by David Darlington. With a mixture of solid research and first-person ruminations, Patton explores a loosely knit community of tech-obsessed sky watchers dubbed "the Interceptors," who are dedicated to unlocking the secrets of Area 51. As opposed to Darlington's earnest but unsophisticated work, Patton makes sure there's enough erudition to make the subject safe for readers of Esquire, where he is a contributing editor. (He compares, for example, military artifacts left in the desert to "an Anthony Caro sculpture.") As he seeks out the often trailer park-based Interceptors (and sub-groups such as the "Stealthers," and "Youfers"), his invocations of Freud, Jung and even "the dreamings of the aboriginal people of Australia" turn the Interceptors' passion into a pat vision of millennial malaise. On the other hand, Patton often succeeds in illuminating military aviation and issues of secrecy, though he cannot offer any substantial revelations on what is or isn't at the base, be it planes that fly at Mach 15 or hidden spacecraft wreckage. Security remains uncompromised. Sixteen pages of b&w photos not seen by PW. (Aug.)

Did a flying saucer really crash in the New Mexico desert? According to popular belief, in early July 1947 the U.S. military secretly recovered the remains of a crashed UFO and its alien crew near the town of Roswell, New Mexico. There is no doubt something occurred at that remote desert outpost; the question is what, and has our government been hiding the facts for half a century? Now, on the fiftieth anniversary of the alleged crash, Korff has undertaken to examine and explain what may be one of the most baffling UFO cases of all time. He uncovers information never before published - military records, formerly classified projects, and correspondence - revelations powerful enough to change public opinion forever. He systematically examines the testimony of virtually everyone who claims to have been involved - from Mac Brazel, the rancher who found the "crashed saucer," to Maj. Jesse Marcel, who helped recover the material, to the military personnel who may have formulated the world's greatest cover-up. Korff assesses the claims of the "new" witnesses, the confusion regarding two "crash" sites, and the "alien" materials recovered. He even includes an evaluation of the "alien autopsy" film. Korff concludes his expert analysis with a chapter that clearly distinguishes fact from fiction.

Crash at Corona: The U. S. Military Retrieval and Cover-up of a UFO

Aviation /science writer Don Berliner and nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman, the original civilian investigator of the so-called Roswell incident, have delved into the controversy to find the truth. They sifted through once-classified government documents, interviewed military and civilian witnesses, pieced together evidence, considered alternative theories, and concluded that a UFO crashed near Corona -- and the U.S. government knew it and covered it up.

The Real Roswell Crashed-Saucer Coverup proves beyond any doubt, based on once "Secret" and "Top Secret" Air Force and CIA documents, that there is indeed a massive coverup of the truth. It reveals that those involved in the crashed-saucer coverup are the authors of books and articles, and TV show producers, who falsely accuse the government while they themselves withhold information contained in these once "Secret" and "Top Secret" documents to line their own pockets. In contrast to the hard evidence contained in these once highly classified documents, author Philip J. Klass reveals flaws and contradictions in the tales told by some of the key alleged witnesses who claim to have seen crashed saucer and/or ET bodies. He also reveals how Roswell researchers themselves sharply disagree as to what allegedly occurred and when it happened.
